Finding Dory Changed in Response to Controversial Documentary

In very interesting news, Brooks Barnes of the New York Times reports that the still-in-development script to Finding Dory has been altered after a new documentary, Blackfish, was released recently. The documentary talks about Tilikum, a killer whale at SeaWorld Orlando, who has been in captivity since 1983 and at SeaWorld Orlando since 1992. It's an interesting picture of killer whales in captivity and why it's wrong to keep them in captivity. I have yet to see it, but I have heard nothing but good things about it. Anyway, back to Finding Dory. As reported by Barnes, an unnamed Pixar employee confirmed to him that the ending of Finding Dory involved a marine park, such as SeaWorld. But, because of Blackfish and the publicity hit SeaWorld is receiving due to it, they have changed the ending to make it so that the characters at the aquatic center have the option to leave. Obviously Finding Dory is years away, so it's not like this is film breaking news. But it is interesting to see just how privy to the world's emotions Pixar is. I know in Monsters, Inc., they changed the Harryhausen's scene from it exploding to the current scene after the September 11th attacks. Finding Dory drops November 25, 2015. Expect something on it today at D23.'

My Thoughts on Finding Dory

So I'm sure you've all heard by now: Finding Dory confirmed for 2015. If not, surprise! Scroll down for more info. I just wanted to put my thoughts on this film out there.

I don't want this movie. This is an extremely disappointing development. Finding Nemo was a great film, there's no denying that. I'm not a huge fan, but to each their own. It ended on, at least for me, a final note that wrapped it up and left no room for a sequel. Boy, was I wrong. July 17, 2012 was the first rumblings of a sequel to Nemo. Andrew Stanton tweeted this after all the Pixar fandom had a collective head explosion:

So he pretty much denied it. Then in August, Ellen Degeneres was confirmed back. I'll admit, I squirmed and was a little skeptical. Then, Albert Brooks was confirmed. At this point, I was worried sick that this was happening. Then today, the stuff hit the fan. I was POed. I couldn't believe that Pixar was doing this. This just reeks of studio meddling. I think that Disney pressured Andrew into this situation after the failure of John Carter. Dory's backstory is definitely interesting, but I don't feel it needs an entire movie. And before everyone jumps on me saying, "But there's three original movies coming out right before it!", I know. But, four sequels in six years is kind of... off. Now, of course I will see it. I have full faith that Andrew and Pixar know what they're doing and can make an outstanding movie. But, until the first footage or more plot details, I have a weary eye towards it. That is all. Finding Nemo 2 Confirmed; Titled Finding Dory

I am in shock right now. The news that Finding Nemo 2 was in the works was upsetting enough. The fact that the main actors, Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres, were returning was unsettling, considering the fact that I didn't want this. Today is a dark day.

Pixar confirmed today that the rumors are true. Finding Nemo 2 is coming. It will be titled Finding Dory. Here is the logo:
